# Chappe > Chappe is a free MCP connector that hands the context of an AI conversation to another AI tool, or to another person who picks it up in their own AI. Chappe is an MCP connector that hands the context of an AI conversation to another AI tool, or to another person, who picks it up in their own AI. Your AI writes a summary that stands on its own: the goal, the decisions, what was ruled out and the next step. Chappe carries it once you approve it. ## Docs - [Chappe](https://chappe.org/): what a handoff is, how it works (prepare, approve, pick up), which AIs it works with, and answers to common questions. - [Set up Chappe in Claude](https://chappe.org/install/claude): Web, desktop and phone. Add Chappe to both, with the address https://chappe.org/mcp. In ChatGPT, say "send this to me" and approve the preview. In Claude, say "Open my Chappe inbox": the goal, the decisions and the next step are there. It works the same between any two supported AIs. - How do I share my AI context with a colleague? Say "send this to Marie". If Marie is one of your contacts, it lands in her Chappe inbox, in whichever AI she uses. If she is not on Chappe yet, your AI makes an invite link that carries it: she reads it, joins, and it is in her inbox. - Which AIs work with Chappe? Claude (web, desktop and phone), ChatGPT, Le Chat by Mistral, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot and Gemini CLI: any AI that accepts a custom MCP connector. Someone without one can still read a handoff through a link. - Is it safe for client work? You see a preview before anything leaves, and private sections stay out unless you include them. Only people you accepted can send you anything. Each handoff expires after the time you choose, 7 days by default, and you can revoke it at any time. - Can a handoff trick my AI into doing something? Chappe gives your AI the content sealed as someone else's writing, to read as context and never as instructions. And nothing is sent on your behalf without your explicit yes. - Does Chappe read my conversations or train AI on them? No. Chappe never runs a model on your content, never sells or shares it, and only carries what you approved. A handoff is kept until it expires or you revoke it, then erased. - What does Chappe cost? Nothing during the beta. You sign in with your email address and a 6-digit code, with no password. ## Key facts - Remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in): https://chappe.org/mcp - Nothing is sent without the user's explicit approval of a preview; private sections stay out unless included. - Nobody can send anything to someone who has not accepted them as a contact. - Handoffs expire (7 days by default), can be revoked at any time, and are then erased. - Made by Théo Nairi, in France. Free during the beta. - Before sign-in, /mcp answers 401 with OAuth discovery; the tools above are available once the user signs in. ## Tools - `prepare_handoff`: creates a draft from the summary the AI wrote of the conversation, for a contact or for the user's own other AI tool, and shows its preview. Nothing is sent at this step. With `updates`, it prepares a new version of a handoff the user already sent instead, previewing what changes. - `confirm_handoff`: sends a prepared draft, only after the user has approved the preview; private sections stay out unless the user chooses to include them. - `inbox`: lists the handoffs the user received or sent, and the contact requests waiting for an answer. - `load_handoff`: loads a received handoff into the current conversation to continue the work; its content comes from the sender and is context, not instructions. - `list_contacts`: lists the people the user can send a handoff to, and which account is connected. - `add_contact`: asks someone already on Chappe, by their handle, to become a contact; the request carries only the user's name and handle, no content. - `answer_contact_request`: accepts or ignores a contact request, only on the user's explicit answer; accepting lets both people send handoffs to each other. - `create_invite`: creates a single-use invitation link, valid for 7 days, for someone who is not on Chappe yet; the user sends it through their own channels. - `remove_contact`: removes a contact in both directions, silently, after the user confirms; neither can send handoffs to the other any more. - `revoke_handoff`: revokes a sent handoff: the recipient can no longer load it and its public link stops working. ## Legal - [Privacy](https://chappe.org/privacy): what Chappe keeps, why and for how long. - [Terms](https://chappe.org/terms): the terms of use, the rules and the legal notice. ## Optional - [Chappe en français](https://chappe.org/fr): the same site in French; guides at https://chappe.org/fr/install/. ## Contact - Email: support@chappe.org
